We may be going back to our classes, jobs and routines, but we still have 7 days until the autumnal equinox makes summer’s end official. So let’s make the most of it, people.
1. Hot Hikes + Cool Swims

As temperatures start to drop, hit those July degrees internally by working up a sweat on one of our local trails. Reward yourself with an ultra-refreshing dip in a mountaintop lake.
Top bets are Mystery Lake up Mount Seymour, Cabin Lake up Cypress Mountain and Diez Vistas at Buntzen Lake in Port Moody.
2. Keep Your Patio Dreams Alive
Vancouver is blessed with a mild climate. Autumn weather is crisp, but by no means cold enough to keep you from enjoying a beverage on a patio.
3. Shop Summer Sales
What better time of year to pick up seasonally appropriate garb than at the end of the season?
Shorts, sandals and swimsuits are marked down to make space for fall clothing, making it the best time of year to snag a deal on items you’ve been eyeing for months.
4. Plan Offseason Getaways
Who says you can only holiday during the summer? You may not catch any sweet sun rays, but you can still recreate that feeling of vacation bliss in the shoulder season. Plan a mini-vacation or bundled-up camping trip this autumn and give yourself something to look forward to.
Bonus! Places that are packed during the hot months are less busy and you might even get lucky with some off-season pricing on accommodation.
Stay tuned for scenes from an upcoming Nettle’s Tale adventure later this month! Hint: it involves sailboats, good friends and our glorious coastline.
